New Delhi: According to data from the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI), equity mutual funds increased by 370 pc to Rs 40,608.19 crore in June 2024, up from Rs 8,637.49 crore in June 2023. However, following two consecutive months of increased inflows, Mutual Funds experienced net outflows of Rs 43,637 crore for the first time in FY25.

The total assets managed by Indian mutual funds surpassed  Rs 60 lakh crore in June 2024, marking an increase of Rs 10 lakh crore from December 2023. Venkat Chalasani, CEO of AMFI, stated that the industry saw continued investments in equity-focused mutual funds, hybrid funds, and passive funds, which helped in promoting overall financial well-being for all involved parties during the release of the monthly data.

In June 2024, there was a significant increase in the amount of money being withdrawn from debt mutual funds, totaling Rs 1.07 lakh crore, with 12 out of 16 schemes experiencing net outflows.

Yields on bonds increased at first and experienced instability due to the results of the general elections. Ashwini Kumar, Senior VP and Head Market Data at ICRA Analytics, stated that the trend changed and bond yields decreased due to lower U.S. Treasury yields and expectations of rate cuts, as well as Indian bonds being added to the JP Morgan Emerging Market index.
