Guwahati: Some areas of Guwahati city and its outskirts received very heavy rainfall till 8:30 AM today, and due to this, authorities have issued warnings for waterlogging, traffic congestion, and possible landslides. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted continued heavy showers in the next two to three days in Kamrup and Kamrup Metropolitan districts.
Important points in the city received intense rainfall, and precipitation was noted at AAU_HRS (115 mm), Guwahati (112.5 mm), Mirza Circle Office (110 mm), and Kalakshetra (76 mm). Peripheries like Chandubi (94 mm), Boko_AEGCL (82 mm), DakhinGaon (82 mm), and IASST_Kamrup (100 mm) too witnessed high levels of precipitation.
The IMD report, quoting observations from both Automatic Weather Stations (AWS) and Automatic Rain Gauges (ARG), corroborates extensive and unbroken rain activity over the region.
District administrations have issued instructions to people to stay indoors, limit non-essential travel, and keep themselves informed through official sources. "We are keeping the situation under close watch. Emergency services are on standby, and residents in low-lying and landslide zones are instructed to use extreme caution," a State Disaster Management Authority official said.

With roads already waterlogged in various parts of the city, such as regions around Beltola, Chandmari, and Zoo Road, people are experiencing serious delays. Landslide risks in hilly areas like Narakasur, Noonmati, and sections of South Kamrup also rose.
