Indian Chamber of Commerce hosts healthcare management conclave on Northeast

New Delhi: The Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) hosted the inaugural 'ICC Healthcare Management Conclave' in Guwahati on Sunday to address the unique healthcare challenges and needs of North East India, officials said.

The event focussed on the potential of private-public partnerships (PPPs) to enhance healthcare outcomes in line with India's 'Act East' Policy. Subhash Khanna, chairman of the ICC NER Health Committee, highlighted the advancements in robotic technology for surgery, which is revolutionizing healthcare by providing greater precision, smaller incisions, and faster recovery times. Jeet Patwari, a member of the ICC NER Health Committee, also spoke on the occasion.

Rajat Banerji, vice president of corporate affairs at Amway India Enterprises Pvt Ltd, highlighted the importance of preventive healthcare, stating that the preventive healthcare sector in India is pivotal in promoting a healthier lifespan. 

Indrani Laskar, joint secretary of Health & Family Welfare, Assam, delivered an insightful speech on the future of healthcare, emphasizing the government's initiatives to improve healthcare outcomes in the region.

Ashok Puranik, executive director of AIIMS Guwahati, provided a keynote address titled "Healthcare in India: Where are we heading to?", highlighting innovations such as regenerative medicine and artificial organs. He discussed the disparity between rural and urban healthcare and the efforts to bridge this gap through technology and government initiatives like telemedicine and Ayushman Bharat.
