Singapore: Senior ministers from India and Singapore engaged in a productive discussion at the second India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR), focusing on deepening bilateral cooperation in six strategic areas: digitalisation, skill development, sustainability, healthcare, connectivity, and advanced manufacturing.
The Indian delegation, led by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and including External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, met with their Singaporean counterparts to review progress since the first ISMR in New Delhi in September 2022. The talks also explored new opportunities for collaboration in emerging and futuristic sectors.
Singapore's delegation was led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong. Both sides highlighted the importance of the India-Singapore Strategic Partnership and discussed plans to commemorate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The ministers also called on Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, discussing ways to further advance the bilateral strategic partnership, particularly in digitalisation, green initiatives, and skill development.
This roundtable sets the stage for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's anticipated visit to Singapore next month, with both nations reaffirming their commitment to a stronger, multifaceted partnership.
