Guwahati Passport Office honoured with 'Passport Seva Puraskar'

Guwahati: The Regional Passport Office of Guwahati was honoured with the 'Passport Seva Puraskar' during the annual Regional Passport Officers' conference held in New Delhi on June 22.

Cherakung Zeliang, the Regional Passport Officer, received the award from the Minister of State for External Affairs, Kirti Vardhan Singh, during the programme. Regional Passport Office, Guwahati presently caters to the Northeast Indian states of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Nagaland.

According to an official release, the award was presented based on the performance of 37 passport offices across the country, which included various parameters set by the Foreign Ministry like grievance handling, average print and distribution time, files granted on the same day, per staff average productivity, etc.
