Guwahati: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) is all set for a major economic boost in 2025. Mayor Mrigen Sarania shared that the construction of community toilets, clubs, temples and libraries will take place in every ward by 2025 during an interview with Business North East (BNE).

"In each ward, 5 to 6 community toilets will be built, totalling 300 across Guwahati. In 2024, one community hall per ward was established. This year, Rs 20 lakh will be allocated to each ward for constructing 2, 3, or 4 community toilets, depending on the ward's requirements. These toilets should be built within a distance of 180 to 200 yards," Mrigen Sarania told BNE.

"Additionally, Rs 40,000 will be provided to each councillor for road repairs. Streetlights will be installed at prime locations, including cremation grounds. The re-inauguration of Beltola Market, Ganeshguri Market, and Ulubari Market will take place in January or February 2025, providing proper facilities for local businessmen to establish their stalls. Also, five schools have been selected for infrastructure redevelopment," the Mayor added.
