GoI Urges Expedited DPR Submission for Rs 1204.55 Crore Northeast Projects Under PM-DevINE Scheme

New Delhi: The Indian Government is considering six ambitious projects worth Rs 1204.55 crore for the Northeast under the PM-DevINE scheme and has requested state governments to submit DPRs promptly.

BBCI is now seeking to modify the scope of work for the proposed project, which aims to establish Dedicated Services for managing Paediatric and Adult Haematolymphoid Cancers at BBCI in Guwahati. Therefore, the Government of India has requested the Bharat Broadcasting Corporation of India to provide its revised plan for the project that has already been approved by the central government.

As per the office memo from the Ministry of DoNER on June 5, 2024, the latest meeting of the Empowered Inter-ministerial Committee (EIMC) under the PM's Development Initiative for the North East Region (PM-DevINE) Scheme reviewed six new projects for the NE region. All state governments involved in the discussion were required to submit their DPRs and necessary documents promptly. The Secretary of DoNER presided over the meeting.

The DoNER is actively considering new projects which include: (i) Building Advance Landing Grounds (ALG) in Anini (Rs.183 crore) and Dirang (Rs.225.42 crore) in Arunachal Pradesh (Total Rs.408.42 crore); (ii) Developing Skywalk and Tourist hub in Mawkdok, Sohra, Meghalaya (Rs.42.17 crore); (iii) Providing gap funding for Passenger Ropeway at Shillong Peak Ropeway project, Shillong, Meghalaya (Rs.58.79 crore) [Total project cost St Rs.116.30 crore]; (iv) Constructing a Multi-speciality hospital in Chumokedemia at Nagaland (Rs.60 crore); (v) Providing gap funding for the proposed Medical College at Sichey, East Sikkim for 100 students (Rs.170 crore) [Total projects cost Rs.555.31 crore]; and (vi) Establishing Campus of Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) in Shillong (Rs.22.35 crore).
