The Finance Department has released crucial guidelines for processing claims under the Chief Minister's Universal Life Insurance Scheme (CMLIS), aimed at providing timely financial assistance to families impacted by the loss or injury of the breadwinner. The updated guidelines seek to streamline the claims process and ensure efficient support for beneficiaries.
Life insurance under CMLIS is exclusively available for the breadwinner of the family. To be eligible, the breadwinner must be registered on the CMLIS portal. Claims must be reported within three weeks of death to the Facilitation Cell, Finance Department, via call or WhatsApp at 9366494507. Further details can be accessed on the official website: cmlis.gov.in.
An accident is defined as a sudden, unforeseen event caused by external forces. Covered incidents include road accidents, natural calamities, drowning, criminal acts, and murder. However, death by suicide is excluded from the coverage.
Exclusions: A comprehensive list of exclusions is available on the CMLIS website.
Claim Process for Accidental Death or Disability:
Both life insurance and accidental insurance are covered under CMLIS for the breadwinner, and claims can be processed independently.
