In Guwahati, the past two days have seen a remarkable increase in the sale of traditional Raksha Bandhan products such as chocolates and sweets. According to a Cadbury distributor who supplies chocolates to departmental stores across the city, sales have soared by an impressive 30% during this festive period, underscoring the popularity of chocolates as a go-to gift.

Adding a unique touch to this year’s celebrations is Rupankar Bhattacharjee, who introduced a new eco-friendly Rakhi made from sustainable materials. In his first venture into the market, Bhattacharjee produced 150-200 of these eco-friendly Rakhis, which quickly sold out. He noted that the response from the public has been overwhelmingly positive, reflecting a growing trend towards eco-consciousness among consumers.

The price of the eco-friendly Rakhi starts from 150 to 200 rupees. "This year was a trial run, and I’m thrilled with the response," Bhattacharjee said. "People are becoming more eco-conscious, and they appreciated the use of eco-friendly materials in the Rakhis. I’m already planning to produce more for the next festive season."
