Guwahati: Chaos erupted at City Centre Mall this Monday afternoon as shoppers were abruptly asked to evacuate during the busy festive shopping period. Initial rumors swirled, suggesting a bomb threat or flooding in the mall's basement.
Authorities later confirmed that the evacuation was prompted by flooding in the basement. "We immediately called the disaster management team to address the situation," a City Centre executive stated.
The mall, strategically located between GS Road and Zoo Road, is particularly crowded during holidays and weekends. As the evacuation unfolded, the mall's gates were shut, leading to significant traffic snarls outside as shoppers hurriedly made their exit.
