Domestic cylinder to cost Rs. 952 in Guwahati

Guwahati: Cooking Gas Cylinders in Guwahati to cost Rs. 952 after the reduction in the cost of cooking gas cylinders by Rs. 200 per cylinder. In a step that will provide relief to households across across the nation, the Government of India has announced this decision. 

Domestic cylinders weighing 14.2 kg would cost Rs. 952 in Guwahati, while smaller cylinders weighing 5 kg, 10 kg, and 5 kg of composite material will cost Rs. 680.50 and Rs. 352 respectively.

And a 19-kg non-domestic cylinder will cost you back Rs. 1892, 50.

In other districts across Assam, like Baksa, domestic cylinder will cost Rs. 968.50 and non-dmestic cylinder will cost Rs.  1918.50; in Barpeta domestic cylinder will cost Rs. 945 and non-domestic cylinder will cost Rs. 2020.50 ( -93).
Prices will be in effect starting on August 30, 2023.

Customers welcomed the Indian government's choice. Customers told Business-Northeast that the cost of cooking gas cylinders had finally decreased after a protracted period.

One of the customers stated that the price reduction will provide help to families from the lower and middle classes.

The manager of Hangsha Gas Agency in Hengrabari, Guwahati, Prithvi Dutta, told Business-Northeast that households will benefit from the substantial drop in the cost of cooking gas cylinders for both domestic and non-domestic use. Benefits would mostly go to those who are beneficiaries of the PM Ujjwala Yojana Scheme (PMUY).

Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister of Assam, stated on X (formerly Twitter) that a Rs 200 reduction in LPG costs will not only increase household savings but also have a multiplier effect on the broader economy.
This reduction will be beneficial to 33 Crore LPG consumers, including the 9.6 Cr PMUY eligible families. With the addition of new gas connections and 75 lacs women from low-income households, the total number of PMUY beneficiaries will increase from 9.6 million to 10.35 million. Beneficiaries of the PM Ujjwala Yojana will continue to get a 200-rupee per-cylinder subsidy in their accounts.

In addition to promoting household welfare and ensuring reasonable access to basic necessities, the price decrease of cooking gas will lessen the financial burden on individuals. The government's proactive move to lower prices is anticipated to have a favorable effect on the cost of living for a large segment of society.
