The buyer-seller meet organised by the Indian Chamber of Commerce-North-East Initiative saw business negotiations between states of Northeast India and companies from Thailand, Bangladesh, Laos and Bhutan.
Indian Chamber of Commerce-North-East Initiative in association with the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, organised the 2nd North-East India Buyer Sellers Meet on July 28 in a Hybrid mode (Virtual & Physical).
The focused countries for the NE Buyer Seller Meet, 2022 were Thailand, Bangladesh, Laos and Bhutan pertaining to the significant sectors of North-East India. A total of 300 Buyers and Sellers participated.
Many international companies from Bangladesh and Bhutan participated and had serious business discussions with their Indian counterparts.
The meeting offered an ideal platform to buyers and sellers, who do not have adequate time to trot across the globe in search of business opportunities. International trade visitors looking for potential buyers in India met prospective clients and forge business relations at the meeting.
Companies from Bangladesh like M/s. Jute & Bags Export Corporation explored the possibility of importing Jute to India and buying back finished products from India. In this regard, the CEO of the Company Mr Enamul Haque had business discussions with North East based companies like Nandini’s, Aparupa and Rapus Bamboo etc.
Likewise, Indian companies like Vicky International owned by Mr Amaresh Roy which mostly deals in products like Coal, Limestone, Stone Chips etc, had discussion with Snehalata Enterprise and Asif Enterprise from Bangladesh regarding the export of coal and limestone from India. At the same time he also had a discussion with Sharif Cargo from Bangladesh regarding the transport of his goods .
Mr. Sorowar Hossain Sadu an Importer of Coal and Limestone from Bangladesh discussed the scope of importing Coal and Stone Chips Mr Rakesh Majumdar of Majumdar Enterprise which is a North East based company. Mr Atik Hussain, Vice President of Sylhet Chamber of Commerce, represented his chamber and discussed various business potentials with North East-based companies like Creative Brother, Trans Virtual and Vicky International.
Md Abdul Mannan, Managing Director of two Bangladesh-based companies -BETA Bangladesh Ltd, and Bengal Trade International are interested to export and import of almost all kinds of food materials available in North East India. They had meetings with companies like Universal Trading Company, Eion Wear, Green Steps etc. He is very much interested in the Organic Food Products available in North East , especially items like Rice, Garlic etc.
Mr. Arup Kumar Baishya, Director of AVA Creations Social Impact Foundation, an organisation based on Handlooms and Textiles had meaningful business meetings with GM Interiors and Furnishings from Bhutan and AA International from Bangladesh. Both these companies expressed their desire to purchase products from AVA creation.
Dr. Mukul Chandra Kalita, a scientist from Assam Agriculture University, had some business discussions with companies like Tamul Plates Marketing Pvt Ltd , Sristi Crafts and Keya’s Black Rice. He deliberated on the transfer of rice technologies to these companies.
Mr. Joshi Tuisum , Partnership Manager from NIBMA, Shillong Meghalaya discussed the potential of cross-border tourism with Mr Richen Dorji of Ring Yang Enterprise of Bhutan.
Mrs. Rakhi Das of Rakhi Das Pickles who is into the food processing sector , had a business discussion with Deehen Wangsmo and Dendep of Bhutan regarding the import of fruits for making her food products. She also had discussions with Zeal International of Bangladesh to export her products.
A North East-based company called Vista Naturals had meetings with various Bangladeshi counterparts from Dhaka Chambers and Bhutan regarding the export of their organic Ginger and Turmeric. They also discussed with Sharif Cargo Ltd of Bangladesh to transport their goods.
A Manipur-based company called Surbala Weaving Unit had meetings with Enamul Haque Patwary of Bangladesh and Nabin Bhujel of Bhutan to export their handloom products.
Another north east India based company called www.artexdirect.com which was represented by it’s CEO Mr Prasanta Kr Nath displayed their handloom products to all the buyers from Bangladesh and Bhutan.
