New Delhi: BHEL, a government-owned company, announced on Monday that it had been awarded a 1,600 MW project by Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC). BHEL stated that the coal-fueled unit will be established in Jharkhand's Koderma district using an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) approach.
It was stated that the Koderma Supercritical Thermal Power Project (STPP) of 2x800 MW was awarded through International Competitive Bidding (ICB). This project will be the first of its kind in terms of capacity for DVC and will be located next to its existing 2x500 MW units installed by BHEL earlier, according to the statement.
BHEL also mentioned it has a strong relationship with DVC and has set up the majority of coal-based power plants in Jharkhand and West Bengal, accounting for over 80 percent. The latest DVC project involves providing, installing and starting up, as well as handling construction tasks. BHEL's manufacturing units will provide the essential equipment for the project. BHEL is among the top engineering and manufacturing firms in India.
