Guwahati: The Aadi Mahotsav will be inaugurated by the Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India Limited (TRIFED), Ministry of Tribal Affairs, in Major Dhyanchand National Stadium on February 16 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
According to the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), Guwahati, approximately 8 Assamese women will participate in the mahotsav. The mela will be held until February 27th.
The participation will be for three different categories. First is the retail outlet of TRISSAM (Tribal Assam) products representing all the tribal products, which may be more than 150 different items from all categories of agriculture, horticulture, handloom, handicraft, etc. Second, there will be a live food counter where visitors can experience tribal delicacies, and third, there will be live demonstrations of products.
The Director of the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship, Dr. Lalit Sharma, is providing full support for the success of the project.
According to Senior Consultant and Project Head Dr Bhaskarjyoti Saud, Prime Minister Vandhan Yojana beneficiaries will participate in the program.He informed me that there would be various stalls at the event. The stalls will include TRISSAM products, a live food counter demonstrating tribal food items, and a demonstration counter of tribal products.
He gave the example of broom, which is one of the major minor forest products (MFPs) from Assam. A live demonstration of how the broom is made will be shown at the event. Along with that, there will be a live display of the making of water hyacinth products.
The states of India will participate in the Aadi Mahotsav. The participants will be provided second-class train tickets for coming and going to Delhi. Along with that, they will be paid a sum of Rs. 600. The payment will be made both by TRIFED and IIE.
The beneficiaries participating are from the Udalguri Van Dhan Kendra. Saud said that every district gets an opportunity from time to time.
The prices of products will be slightly higher than usual. There will be products starting from Rs. 10 to Rs. 200 to start with. TRISSAM will display more than 100 commodities.
