Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma welcomed Nukaga Fukushiro, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Japan, and his delegation at the under-construction Tata Semiconductor Assembly and Test Facility in Jagiroad and IIT on Sunday. The Japanese delegation is on a three-day visit to Assam. The team expressed interest in collaborating in various sectors, including infrastructure and construction.
“This marks the fourth Japanese delegation to visit Assam in a short span, reflecting the growing bilateral cooperation between Assam and Japan,” said Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who accompanied the team during their visit to the TSAT facility. Sharma further emphasised the need for nonstop commitment between Japanese institutions and the Government of Assam to deepen planned and economic ties.
The CM also underlined that Japan has lifted all limitations on tourists visiting Assam and continues to support the state in vital sectors, including health and infrastructure.
“Japan’s global leadership in semiconductor technology and its involvement in Assam will greatly enhance the region’s tech competencies, reinforce the supply chain, and spur economic growth,” he added.
He is hopeful that the Tata Semiconductor Assembly and Test Facility will create employment opportunities for local youth, reducing their need to seek jobs outside the state.
Present at the event were Water Resources Minister Pijush Hazarika, Industries and Commerce Minister Bimal Bora, Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Nandita Gorlosa, Project Head Ashish Mishra, senior government officers, and other luminaries.
