Guwahati: The 48 Assam Naval Unit launched a week-long program on February 21 to empower dozens of NCC girl cadets by teaching them about entrepreneurship, skill development, and women empowerment

The one-week-long program has garnered participation from around 100 NCC girl cadets who are keen to explore diverse career avenues, officials informed. The overarching goal is to provide these young women with a platform to cultivate skills and knowledge, fostering a spirit of entrepreneurship and empowerment.

Surgeon Vice Admiral Arti Sarin, AVSM, VSM, DGMS (Navy), spearheading the program, lauded the initiative by 48 Assam Naval Unit. The official emphasized the initiative's significance in fostering a culture of inclusivity and entrepreneurship.

In her address to the young cadets, she highlighted the importance of financial independence as a cornerstone of empowerment, urging them to aspire towards self-reliance and autonomy in their pursuits.

Notable contributors including North Eastern Handicrafts and Handloom Development Corporation (NEHHDC), the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), ACCESS Development Services, and Sishu Sarathi during the program offered lectures and grooming sessions to equip the cadets with the necessary skills and knowledge to navigate the entrepreneurial landscape.

Participating organizations offered hands-on experience through field visits to their respective institutes in Guwahati over seven days. "This immersive approach ensures that the cadets gain practical insights and exposure to real-world entrepreneurial environments, enhancing their preparedness for future challenges", stated an official.

Notably, the grooming and mentoring of these cadets will extend beyond the duration of the event. Continuous support and guidance will be provided throughout the year, with regular visits by the cadets, organized in batches, Business North East has learned.

This extended engagement aims to reinforce their entrepreneurial aspirations and further develop their skills, laying a strong foundation for future endeavors.
