Guwahati : Industries, Commerce, and Public Enterprises Minister Bimal Bora chaired a high-level review meeting at Janata Bhawan today to assess the progress of industrial proposals signed under the Advantage Assam 2.0 initiative.
These proposals, formalised through various Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), are aimed at quickening industrial growth and employment generation across Assam.
The meeting focused on a full valuation of proposals about technical feasibility, productivity, site facilitation, land allotment, infrastructure readiness, electricity availability, and the range of incentives and facilities to be provided by the state government. Special attention was given to the projected employment potential and the long-term socio-economic impact of these industrial units.
Senior officials including Special Secretary of the Industries Department Rakesh Agarwal, Secretary Laxman S., Commissioner Oinam Charan Kumar Singh, and Assam Industrial Development Corporation (AIDC) Managing Director Manbendra Pratap Singh were present, along with other key functionaries.
Minister Bora stress the need for timely and coordinated implementation of the MoU-linked projects and directed officials to ensure all groundwork—particularly land and power infrastructure—is addressed on time. The meeting also underscored the importance of inter-departmental coordination and called for regular follow-ups to expedite the operationalisation of the proposed industries.
The discussions reflected the government's intent to position Assam as a manufacturing and investment hub in the Northeast. “Accelerated industrialisation is vital to Assam’s economic growth and job creation,” the Minister stated, urging all departments to work in synergy for effective execution.
Repeated review meetings have been supported going forward to track progress and resolution any developing tests in real-time.
