Three beneficiaries of aspirational block program invited by PM as special guests for 78th Independence Day

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has invited three distinguished guests from Nagaland, along with their spouses, to witness the 78th Independence Day celebrations on August 15, 2024, in New Delhi. These individuals have been selected from the Aspirational Block Program, which was launched in January 2023 and currently covers 500 Blocks across the country.

Among the invitees is Renung and her Self Help Group (SHG) "Limreh" from Kiusam Block in Kiphire District. They have significantly benefited from the Aspirational District Program through the establishment of a "Weaving & Tailoring Center" in Kiusam Village. This initiative has provided valuable training to the women of the village and generated income through the sale of traditional and non-traditional products.

Kughalu K, from Emlomi village in the Akuhaito Aspirational Block under Zunheboto District, is another honoree. As a beneficiary of the MGNREGA scheme, he has played a crucial role in the development of his village and currently serves as the General Secretary of the Village Development Board Association under the RD Block in Akuhaito, Zunheboto.

The third guest, A.P. Tsupan, hails from Thonoknyu Aspirational Block in Noklak District. A beneficiary of the PM-KISAN Scheme, Tsupan has been involved in farming in Thonoknyu Village since 1997. The scheme has supported his agricultural endeavors, particularly in cultivating perilla seeds, soybeans, and foxtail millet. The additional support from the scheme has also helped him meet domestic needs and support other cultivators in his community.

Accompanying these special guests will be Senior Scientist Dr. Lahar Jyoti Borodoloi from Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Kiphire, who will serve as the Nodal Officer representing Nagaland.

These honorees are being recognized for their exemplary leadership and entrepreneurship, which highlight the transformative impact of initiatives like the Aspirational District/Block Program, MGNREGA, and PM-KISAN. Their achievements demonstrate how these programs are making a difference in lives at the grassroots level across the country.
