Guwahati:  As the world celebrates World Tourism Day, this year the theme "Tourism and Peace" takes center stage, highlighting the sector's crucial role in fostering global harmony and understanding. Established in 1980 by the UNWTO, the World Tourism Day is observed every year on September 27 to promote tourism fostering global economic growth, cultural exchange, cultural growth and sustainable development.

The day aims to promote tourism as a catalyst for economic growth, cultural exchange, and sustainable development.

This year, the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) emphasises the power of tourism in bridging cultural divides and supporting reconciliation efforts. By promoting tourism, nations can foster peace, understanding, and cooperation.

Northeast India, with its breathtaking landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and serene hill stations, offers a peaceful and enriching travel experience. Some of the region's top destinations include:

Gangtok, Sikkim: Known for its serene lakes, ancient monasteries, and breathtaking mountain views.
