Kolkata: After acquiring more spectrum in the 900 Mhz band in Kolkata, Vodafone Idea (Vi) announced the expansion of L900 technology in 3000 sites in the city to improve network infrastructure.
Vi stated that L900 is a cutting-edge technology designed to enhance 4G indoor coverage for users, offering improved call quality and quicker data speeds. This is a component of Vi's larger plan to enhance its network infrastructure, following a prosperous Rs 18,000 crore Follow-on Public Offering (FPO).
Vi has also obtained more spectrum in the latest spectrum auction, spending Rs 31 crore for 0.4Mhz of spectrum in the 900 Mhz band in Kolkata Circle and Rs 376 crore for 7.6 Mhz of spectrum in the 900 Mhz band in West Bengal Circle.
Now, Vi has a combined spectrum portfolio of 334.4Mhz in Kolkata and 536.8Mhz in West Bengal circles. "Our aim is to offer top-notch network services, and this enhancement shows our dedication to delivering excellent services to our clients," stated Naveen Singhvi, Vodafone Idea Cluster Business Head for West Bengal, Assam, and North East.
The technology is being implemented in additional cities across the country by the company. According to a market analyst, having a more powerful network will enable the operator to not just maintain but also expand its customer base.
