Vegetable Prices Surge in Guwahati, Straining Household Budgets

Guwahati: Vegetable prices have surged dramatically in Guwahati city, particularly for those imported from outside the state, raising significant concerns among the local population. Vegetables, a staple in daily cooking, can become a financial burden for many households due to the sudden price hike. 

Vegetables such as cauliflower, carrots, beans, tomatoes, and broccoli have notably increased, while locally grown vegetables remain relatively stable. Resource says it is approximately 100 to 300% prices has been increased.

Tomatoes have seen the steepest price rise, soaring from Rs 40 to Rs 100. The vendor expressed confusion stating that there seems to be no clear reason for this substantial increase.
