UP presents Rs 12,909 cr supplementary budget for FY25

Lucknow: The government of Uttar Pradesh introduced a supplementary budget of over Rs 12,909 crore for the 2024-25 fiscal year in the assembly on Tuesday. According to State Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna, the supplementary budget of Rs 12,909.93 crore accounts for 1.66 per cent of the original Budget (of Rs 7.36 lakh crore) that was presented in February this year.

Khanna mentioned that the spending on revenue account totals Rs 4,227.94 crore, while the spending on capital account amounts to Rs 7,981.99 crore in the supplementary budget. He announced allocations of Rs 7,500.18 crore for industrial development, Rs 2,000 crore for the energy department, Rs 1,000 crore for the transport department to purchase buses, Rs 600 crore for Amrit Yojana under urban development, Rs 200 crore for short-term programs under Uttar Pradesh Skill Mission, and Rs 100 crore for rural stadium and open gym.

A proposal of Rs 28.40 crore is suggested for setting up labs in 284 government inter-colleges, and Rs 66.82 crore for labs in 1,040 government secondary schools under the secondary education department. The culture department has allocated Rs 74.90 crore for its schemes, Rs 53.15 crore for setting up Atal residential schools, and Rs 2.79 crore for maintaining buildings in these schools.
