Shillong: The Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti, Dr. Raj Bhushan Choudhary, reviewed the implementation of central schemes in Meghalaya during a visit to Shillong. The meeting was attended by senior officials from the government, including the Minister of Water Resource Department, C. Ymbon.
The minister expressed satisfaction with the progress made in implementing the schemes and praised the state departments for their work. He commended the state's progress with the Jal Jeevan Mission and proposed the construction of reservoirs to mitigate water scarcity during the dry season.
He also highlighted the government's mission to provide safe drinking water to every household, emphasizing the importance of education and increasing female literacy in reducing maternal and infant mortality rates. The minister praised Meghalaya's dedication and teamwork and reiterated the central government's commitment to further progress.
