Guwahati: To recognize outstanding performance under the scheme, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs announced the PRAISE Awards 2024 on 18th July 2024. Assam was honored as the best performing state in the hilly and northeastern states category and secured 2nd place nationwide for innovation and best practices, ensuring the successful implementation of the PMSVANidhi scheme in the state.
The awards were presented during a central function held in Delhi on 18th July 2024 by Shri Manohar Lal Khattar, Hon’ble Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs.
Following the ministry's instructions, the state-level PRAISE Awards ceremony was organized on 21st August 2024 at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakhetra. During the event, 33 awards were presented to the best-performing urban local bodies (ULBs) and banks for their contributions to the successful implementation of the scheme.
The event was graced by Ashok Singhal, Minister, Department of Housing and Urban Affairs (DoHUA), who distributed the awards in the esteemed presence of Shri Mrigen Sarania, Mayor of Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC), Kavitha Padmanabhan, IAS, Commissioner and Secretary to the Government of Assam, DoHUA, along with officials from the ministry, dignitaries, PMSVANidhi beneficiaries, and other invited guests.
To date, more than 1,15,000 street vendors across ULBs in Assam have benefited from the scheme.
