Union Minister Manohar Lal visits key development projects in Guwahati

Guwahati: Union Minister of Power and Housing and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal, paid a visit to the Mahabahu Brahmaputra River Heritage Centre in Panbazar and the Brahmaputra Riverfront Development Project in Uzanbazar on July 8, 2024. The visit was aimed at reviewing the progress and envisioning future steps for these significant urban development projects.

Accompanied by Assam Minister Ashok Singhal and other dignitaries, Manohar Lal embarked on a guided tour of the Mahabahu Brahmaputra River Heritage Centre at 5:00 pm. This centre, managed by the Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), is a crucial initiative aimed at preserving and showcasing the rich heritage of the Brahmaputra River. The centre serves as a cultural hub, providing insights into the historical, cultural, and ecological significance of the Brahmaputra.

Following the heritage centre visit, the delegation proceeded to the Brahmaputra Riverfront Development Project site in Uzanbazar. The project, overseen by Guwahati Smart City Limited (GSCL), is a transformative urban initiative designed to enhance the riverfront's aesthetic appeal and functionality. It includes the development of recreational spaces, walkways, and other amenities aimed at boosting tourism and improving the quality of life for Guwahati's residents.

The event saw the presence of numerous media representatives, who were invited to cover the visit and gain insights into the future vision for these projects.

The visit concluded with a note of optimism, as both ministers reiterated their commitment to continuing efforts towards the holistic development of Guwahati, ensuring that it remains a vibrant and sustainable urban center.
