Shilpgram Celebrates 20th Anniversary with Vibrant Mahotsav

Guwahati: The North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC) celebrated the 20th anniversary of its Shilpgram Crafts Village with a vibrant Mahotsav from January 17th to 21st. The festival showcased a dazzling array of Indian culture, featuring captivating dance performances, a vibrant food festival, and a captivating craft exhibition.

The highlight of the Mahotsav was a spectacular choreographic presentation titled ‘Colours of India,’conceived by renowned Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee and NEZCC Director,  Prashanna Gogoi. This mesmerizing performance brought together 250 dancers from across India, including all eight North Eastern states and representatives from various Zonal Cultural Centers like Gujarat, Telangana, Haryana, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, and Punjab. The program featured a beautiful blend of classical, folk, and tribal dance forms, accompanied by live music.

Beyond the main stage, the festival offered a variety of engaging activities for all ages. Children participated enthusiastically in painting, poetry recitation, singing, and dancing competitions held daily. The food festival provided a delightful culinary journey, offering a taste of traditional cuisines from various regions. The craft exhibition showcased a stunning collection of handicrafts, offering visitors a unique opportunity to explore and purchase exquisite creations.

The closing ceremony was graced by the presence of Atul Borah, Cabinet Minister of Horticulture, along with NEZCC Director Prashanna Gogoi, Deputy Director Oliver T Pongen, and Account Officer Hashim Debnath.

The Shilpgram Mahotsav proved to be a resounding success, celebrating the rich cultural tapestry of India and providing a memorable experience for all who attended.
