Itanagar: The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) and Export Promotion for Council for Handicrafts (EPCH) jointly organized an export awareness seminar under the Niryat Bandhu Scheme in Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh.
The seminar attracted 72 artisans, entrepreneurs, and non-governmental organizations (NGO) from Itanagar and nearby clusters, including representatives from the North East Multipurpose Development Society.
Key speakers included eminent exporter Jesmina Zeliang, regional convenor of the Export Promotion Council of Handicrafts (NER). Zeliang urged entrepreneurs in Arunachal Pradesh to avail business opportunities and export marketing platforms offered by EPCH, including knowledge about export-related issues such as market selection, product adaptation, quality standards, and compliance requirements. Vishnu Kant, deputy director of the DGFT, who was also in attendance, highlighted the support initiatives offered by DGFT and the need for long-term handloading to entrepreneurs.
He also highlighted the importance of artisans receiving training in packaging and branding to effectively compete in the market.
According to officials, the seminar aimed to enhance awareness and understanding among potential exporters and e-commerce exporters regarding various aspects of exporting. Participants gained insights into export procedures, policies, and opportunities, empowering them to navigate global trade landscapes more effectively.
The seminar also fostered collaborations between stakeholders and government departments to work towards handicrafts and handlooms export facilitation in Arunachal Pradesh.
