Charaideo: Ranjit Kumar Dass, Minister of Panchayat and Rural Development, Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs and General Administration, on June 29 visited Charideo district to assess the progress of departmental schemes.
According to a release, Dass reviewed the Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Department's schemes and directed officers to issue ration cards to patients suffering from serious diseases like cancer, liver disease, and kidney disease who have not yet received them.
The cards will enable them to receive Ayushman cards for medical expenses of up to Rs 5 lakh per annum from the health department.
The minister also took a detailed look at the paddy procurement process in the district. He expressed satisfaction with the progress of 93.60 percent in the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural) in Charideo district.
He directed Zonal Development Officers to complete the construction of the remaining houses by August and suggested holding meetings with Gaon Panchayat representatives to increase their enthusiasm.
The minister also directed officers to take legal action against beneficiaries who have not made proper use of funds. He expressed satisfaction with the Prime Minister's Rural Residential Area constructed under Mahmara Development Zone and appreciated the well-planned project.
He advised the Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission to take timely steps to expand the demand and market for fragrant Kanjha rice in the state and the country due to the huge potential of production in the Charideo district.
