Pre-Budget consultation meetings conclude in New Delhi

New Delhi: The Union Budget 2024-25 pre-budget consultations, chaired by Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman, which began on June 19, concluded on July 5, officials said. 

The consultations involved over 120 participants from 10 stakeholder groups, including experts from farmer associations, agriculture economists, trade unions, education and health sector, employment and skilling, MSME, trade and services, industry, economists, financial sector, capital markets, infrastructure, energy, and urban sector.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government, which returned to power for a third consecutive time with the help of allies, is readying a federal finance budget likely to be presented in July.

Union Ministers of State for Finance  Pankaj Chaudhary, Finance Secretary and Secretary Expenditure Dr. T.V. Somanathan, Secretary, Director of Economic Affairs  Ajay Seth, Secretary, DIPAMTuhin K. Pandey, Secretary, D/o Financial Services  Vivek Joshi, Secretary, Director of Revenue Shri Sanjay Malhotra, Secretary, Minister of Corporate  Affairs  Manoj Govil, Secretaries of Ministries concerned, Chief Economic Adviser Dr. V. Anantha Nageswaran, and senior officers from the Ministry of Finance and Ministries concerned were also present. 

Sitharaman expressed gratitude to the participants for their valuable suggestions and assured them that their suggestions would be carefully considered in preparing the Union Budget 2024-25.
