Guwahati: NE-SHILP, a not-for-profit organization under the CSR arm of NEDFi has successfully organized a comprehensive training programme for artisans in and around Khetri, near Guwahati. This initiative aims to enhance the skills of local artisans and expand their product range.
The training programme focuses on creating products using cane and bamboo, banana fiber, handloom, and water hyacinth. In an innovative approach, NEDFi has introduced a fusion method that combines two different materials to create unique products.
“Such training has been ongoing since last year. We have trained many artisans till now. We had artisans from Bhutan as well who came recently,” said a NEDFi official.
This programme has significantly impacted the local artisan community, with over 4,000 artisans trained to date, empowering them with new skills and opportunities for economic growth.
