Guwahati: The National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) Gerukamukh officials informed Business North East that the panic created due to landslide on October 28 is now under control.
The ill fated Subansiri Lower Dam Hydro Electric Project is hit by a landslide on October 27 at around 11:30 am.
Subansiri river was blocked at 11.30 am on 27.10.23 due to blockade of the diversion tunnel for landslide. As a result, the flow was reduced towards the downstream of the Subansiri dam.
The reservoir upto spillway level filled up and river started flowing naturally again at 10.40 pm.
Out of 5 numbers 9.5m diameter diversion tunnels, the only diversion tunnel number 1 in use, has been blocked due to landslide.
The other 4 numbers of diversion tunnels had already been blocked earlier. As a result, the river flow to the downstream is highly reduced. The dam spillway bay level is 145m MSL.
The present river flow of 997 cum/sec is being stored in the reservoir and water level of the reservoir is increasing. At 1 pm, the water level reached 139m.
