Guwahati: A mobile app, Forage Crops Grower, which will offer step-by-step guidance on essential aspects such as soil preparation sowing, weed control, fertilisation and pest management, was launched at the 6th annual zonal workshop for Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) in Guwahati on Thursday.
The app was developed by Chayanika Nath and Pranabesh Barman, who are programmers of KVK in Darrang and Udalguri, respectively.
The workshop was organised by the ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Zone-VI, at the Assam Administrative Staff College.
During the inaugural session, Dr. US Gautam, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension) of ICAR, New Delhi, launched the Forage Crops Grower app.
Gautam encouraged the audience to make use of the Forage Crops Grower that aims to assist farmers with tips to maximise the yield and quality of forage crops.
Dr Debasish Borah and Dr Abdul Hafiz, senior scientists and heads of Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Udalguri and Darrang districts, respectively, urged the farming community to embrace modern technologies for a prosperous future in the state's agricultural sector, benefiting both farmers and the overall economy.
