Guwahati: A two-day event titled "Promotion of Millets Production in India" was organized by the North-Eastern Regional Agricultural Marketing Corporation (NERAMAC) at Meghalaya Rongali Bihu Auditorium, Shillong. The event aimed to raise awareness and promote millet consumption to boost production among farmers.
B K Sohilya, Adviser cum Chairman of the Meghalaya Farmers Empowerment Commission, emphasized the need for awareness and institutional collaboration to make millet production a success. Commodore Rajiv Ashok, Managing Director of NERAMAC, highlighted the benefits of millets as an alternative to rice and praised the government’s efforts in promoting this crop.
Millet products, including raw grains, ready-to-cook, and ready-to-eat items, were displayed at the event, which saw participation from around 200 beneficiaries, including farmers and entrepreneurs from Meghalaya, Assam, and Arunachal Pradesh.
