Kohima: An initiative has been launched in Longleng district of Nagaland on Thursday with the aim of improving the lives of the tribal farming community in the Northeast Indian state, a Nagaland government release said.

The initiative titled "Livelihood Improvement of Tribal Farmers through Technological Empowerment and Input Support System" was launched on November at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) in Longleng District, Nagaland. It will operate under the Tribal Sub Plan (TSP), which channelize the flow of benefits from the Centre to tribal populations.

R. Yuimi, the program assistant at KVK Longleng who chaired the event, underscored the pivotal role of “technological interventions and robust input support systems” in empowering tribal farmers. Several distinguished guests and experts who were present at the meeting provided further insights into the broader goals of the program.

Dr. Samuel Akho Konyak P, the extra assistant commissioner (EAC) of Longleng, addressing the gathering, commended the collaborative efforts aimed at uplifting tribal farmers in the community.

Around 60 high-bred piglets along with high-quality feed expected to last a month were also distributed to farmers during the event with the aim of boosting morale.
