Washington: Microsoft is enhancing the integration of Android devices into its Windows operating system for PCs. The software giant has released a new update for users enrolled in the Windows Insider Program, enabling access to connected Android devices directly through the File Explorer section on Windows.

This new feature allows Android users to access, modify, and transfer data seamlessly using their Windows PC. Previously, Android users could connect their devices to a PC via USB or wirelessly through the Phone Link app. With the latest update, users can now wirelessly browse all files on their Android phones, including media, and perform actions such as copying files between the device and PC, renaming, moving, and deleting files, all within the File Explorer section.

Microsoft has outlined the minimum requirements and steps to access this preview feature. To utilize it, users need an Android phone running version 11 or higher and the beta version of the Link to Windows app . Additionally, users must be registered in the Windows Insider Program, running Windows 11 on their PC, and opted into one of the four Insider Channels.

To access the feature, users should navigate to Settings, then Bluetooth and devices, and finally Mobile Devices. They will need to select "Manage devices" to allow their PC to access the Android phone. A toggle will be visible to show the phone in File Explorer.

This update marks a significant step in enhancing the connectivity and functionality between Android devices and Windows PCs, offering users a more integrated and seamless experience.
