Mercedes' C 300 AMG Line launched at Rs 69 lakh

Mumbai: German automaker Mercedes-Benz has officially launched the new C 300 AMG Line in India, priced at Rs 69 lakh. This latest addition to the C-Class lineup replaces the previous C 300d AMG Line, marking a significant upgrade.

As per reports, in response to changing consumer preferences favoring petrol over diesel in the luxury sedan segment, Mercedes-Benz has introduced new features not only in the C-Class range but also in the GLC SUV lineup. Notable enhancements include ventilated front seats and a 360-degree camera in the C-Class, while the GLC SUV receives similar upgrades along with additional airbags. Santosh Iyer, CEO and managing director of Mercedes-Benz India, indicating that nearly 70 percent of their sedan sales are now petrol variants.

Its counterpart, the BMW M340i, priced at Rs 72.90 lakh, is approximately Rs 4 lakh more expensive than the C 300 AMG Line. However, the M340i boasts a potent 374hp, 3.0-litre six-cylinder turbo-petrol engine. Meanwhile, the performance-oriented C 43 AMG stands at Rs 98.25 lakh.

Powering the new C 300 is a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine generating 258hp and 400Nm of torque. Equipped with an integrated starter generator (ISG) and an overboost function, it offers an additional 22hp and 205Nm, respectively, with the capability of activating the overboost function multiple times until temperature limits are reached.

Paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission, the C 300 achieves a 0-100kph time of 6 seconds and a top speed of 250kph. In contrast, the outgoing C 300d featured a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine producing 265hp and 550Nm of torque, priced notably lower at Rs 62.70 lakh. Maintaining its sporty allure, the C 300 comes with the AMG Line package, showcasing sportier front and rear bumpers, AMG-specific interior touches, and the 'Night Package' for a sleek blacked-out cabin appearance. Mercedes-Benz offers the C 300 with Manufaktur color options, including Patagonia Red Bright and Sodalite Blue.

Exclusive features on the C 300 include a Burmester 3D surround sound system, digital lights, augmented reality navigation, blind spot assist, and the keyless-go comfort package.
