Stuttgart: Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the 2024 E-Class Long Wheelbase (LWB) in India, with prices starting at Rs 78.5 lakh (ex-showroom). The luxury sedan, featuring design upgrades and advanced technology, will be produced locally at the automaker's Pune facility. Notably, India remains the only market worldwide where the right-hand-drive (RHD) version of the LWB E-Class is manufactured. The model comes in three variants: E 200 (₹78.5 lakh), E 220d (₹81.5 lakh), and E 450 4Matic (₹92.5 lakh).
The 2024 E-Class sees subtle yet significant design changes, with a longer body now measuring 5,092mm and an additional 15mm in wheelbase for more interior space. The sedan has a lower height by 2mm, enhancing its sleek appearance. The front grille sports a new star-pattern design, and slimmer LED headlights give the front fascia a refreshed look. The car also features flush-fitting door handles and a Maybach-inspired rear quarter glass. Additionally, it comes with redesigned 18-inch alloy wheels and a new Nautic Blue color option, along with Obsidian Black, High Tech Silver, Graphite Grey, and Polar White.
Inside, the most noticeable upgrade is the new MBUX Super wide-screen infotainment system. The dashboard houses a 12.3-inch digital driver display, a 14.4-inch central infotainment screen, and a separate 12.3-inch screen for the front passenger. Rear-seat comfort is enhanced with powered outer seats, headrest cushions, powered sunblinds, and four-zone climate control. The sedan also offers dual wireless charging pads for both front and rear passengers.
Other standout features include a 64-colour ambient lighting system, a 730W 17-speaker Burmester 4D sound system, a powered tailgate, and memory functions for the front seats. In terms of safety, the E-Class is equipped with multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, a 360-degree camera, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) like adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and automatic emergency braking.
The new E-Class offers three engine choices: a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine with 204 hp, a 2.0-litre diesel engine producing 197 hp, and a 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol engine delivering 380 hp and 550 Nm of torque. All engines are paired with an automatic gearbox and come with a mild hybrid system that adds 23 hp and 205 Nm of extra power across all variants.
This launch reinforces Mercedes-Benz’s commitment to delivering luxury, technology, and performance to the Indian market with its latest E-Class LWB.
