Guwahati: The Forest and Environment Department of the Government of Meghalaya, in collaboration with the Network for Certification and Conservation of Forests (NCCF), recently organized a three-day workshop on 'Forest Certification and Carbon Credit', officials informed.
The event took place at Sylvan House in Lower Lachumiere, Shillong, and was attended by several senior officials and aimed to educate participants about forest certification, carbon credit, and other standards developed by the NCCF.
The training aimed to build the capacity of Forest Department officials and other stakeholders in developing proposals for carbon credits and registering them on credible registries.
"The Forest Certification training focused on acquainting participants with various processes involved in Forest Certification, such as gap assessment, internal audits, and documentation identification and maintenance," Meghalaya officials said in a release, adding that it aimed to promote sustainable forest management and conservation in Meghalaya.
