New Delhi: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Government of India, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), and CSC eGovernance Services India Limited to provide eMigrate services through Common Services Centres (CSCs) in India.

The eMigrate project aims to assist blue-collar workers going to Emigration Check Required (ECR) countries by making the emigration process online seamless and bringing foreign employers, registered recruitment agents, and insurance companies on one common platform.

The MoU was signed during the National Workshop on “Powering Transformation through UI/UX for Digital Governance” in the presence of dignitaries such as Shri Rajesh Singh, Joint Secretary & Financial Advisor of MeitY, Ms Debjani Ghosh, President of NASSCOM, Shri Amit Agrawal, CEO of UIDAI & DG, NIC, and others.

Under this MoU, the eMigrate Portal of MEA will be integrated with CSC’s portal to provide eMigrate services to citizens through CSCs. These services include facilitating applicant registration, uploading and processing required documents, booking medical and other services required by migrant workers or applicants registered on the eMigrate portal through CSCs, and creating awareness about eMigrate services among citizens across India.

Common Services Centers (CSCs) are an integral part of the Digital India mission, providing frontend services delivery points for digital services to citizens, especially in rural and remote areas. With over 5.50 lakh CSCs currently delivering over 700 digital services, the MoU aims to expand channels of safe and legal migration at the grassroots level, particularly preventing exploitation from unscrupulous Indian citizens seeking employment overseas.
