The Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER) arranged an Ambassadors' Meet in New Delhi on April 15, aiming to showcase the huge potential of the region and combine two-sided ties for sustainable development.
The event was joined by Ambassadors, High Commissioners, and senior diplomatic representatives from over 80 countries. The Minister of Development of North Eastern Region, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, underlined the Indian Government's promise to altering the region into a hub of connectivity, trade, and novelty.
The Minister highlighted that each of the eight states of the North East exemplifies unique strengths, resources, and chances, making the region a priceless asset in India's growth story. The region's nearness to Southeast Asia also positions it as a gateway to South East Asian countries, aligning with India's Act East Policy.
The Minister extended an invitation to participating countries to explore chances in NER, capitalizing on the region's rich resources and craftsmanship.
Minister of State, MDoNER, Sukanta Majumdar, underlined the huge potential of the region and shared the vision of Prime Minister. He highlighted major development initiatives in the infrastructure sector that have taken place in the North Eastern Region under the Prime Minister's leadership, such as expanding air, road, rail connectivity, waterways, etc.
Pema Khandu, Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, spoke about the unique strengths of the Northeast Region, including Arunachal Pradesh. Minister of External Affairs, S. Jaishankar, highlighted the importance of the NER in India's growth rules and the Kaladan multi-modal transit project.

Secretary, MDoNER, Chanchal Kumar delivered a detailed presentation on investment opportunities in the region, importance of unused potential in various sectors like IT & ITES, healthcare, agriculture, education and skill development, sports and entertainment, tourism and hospitality, infrastructure and logistics, textiles, handlooms and handicrafts, and energy. He stated that MDoNER is dedicated to working closely with diplomatic missions, international development actions, and global investors to channel possessions and know-how to projects that will boost employment, infrastructure, and human capital in the North Eastern Region.
The Ambassadors' Meet was one of the pre-summit activities of the North East Investors Summit to be organized by MDoNER on May 23rd and 24th, 2025.
The event established an irresistible response, with Ambassadors and diplomatic envoys expressing keen interest in joining with Indian sponsors to learn the potentials offered by the North Eastern states.
