Agartala: The Ministry of Development of the North Eastern Region (MDoNER) has approved a total of 86 projects valued at Rs. 1,970.54 crore, with Rs. 1,590.81 crore disbursed under various schemes for the North Eastern states in 2024. MDoNER has released its year-end annual report, stating that the ministry has achieved remarkable milestones and made significant strides in advancing the development of the North Eastern Region (NER) in 2024.

“Focused efforts on improving connectivity, enhancing infrastructure, and attracting investments have played a pivotal role in uplifting the quality of life for the people across the eight North Eastern States. Here’s a comprehensive review of the key initiatives and progress made during the year,” the report reads.

The report further pointed out that as of December 15, 2024, a total of 86 projects valued at Rs. 1,970.54 crore had been approved, with Rs. 1,590.81 crore disbursed under various schemes of MDoNER, including the North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme - Other Than Roads Infrastructure (NESIDS-OTRI), North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme - Roads (NESIDS-Roads), Prime Minister’s Development Initiative for the North East Region (PM-DevINE), Schemes of NEC, and Special Development Packages.

It stated that the guidelines of schemes under PM-DevINE, NESIDS (OTRI), and NESIDS (Roads) have been simplified to jointly consider the concept note and DPR of project proposals in one go, reducing the lead time in conceptualisation and project sanctioning.

“Financial and sectoral demarcation among MDoNER schemes has been rationalised to prevent duplication of project sanctions across multiple schemes. The fund flow process for projects sanctioned under MDoNER/NEC schemes has been simplified to enable the release of funds in four instalments. This has standardised the fund release process and reduced delays and pending cases,” the report stated.
