Mcap of eight of top-10 most valued firms erode by Rs 2 lakh cr; Reliance, TCS biggest laggards

New Delhi: Last week, the total market value of eight of the top-10 most valued companies decreased by Rs 2,01,699.77 crore, with Reliance Industries and Tata Consultancy Services experiencing the largest declines due to poor stock market performance. The BSE benchmark fell by 1,181.84 points, which was a decrease of 1.43 percent, in the previous week.

The market capitalization of Reliance Industries dropped by Rs 60,824.68 crore and is now at Rs 19,82,282.42 crore. The market capitalization of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) dropped by Rs 34,136.66 crore to Rs 16,12,762.51 crore. The State Bank of India's worth decreased by Rs 29,495.84 crore to reach Rs 6,98,440.13 crore, while Bharti Airtel's value dropped by Rs 28,379.54 crore to Rs 8,76,207.58 crore.

The market value of Infosys decreased by Rs 17,061.44 crore to Rs 7,89,819.06 crore, while the market capitalisation of Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) dropped by Rs 16,381.74 crore to Rs 6,57,009.14 crore. The market capitalization of ICICI Bank decreased by Rs 15,169.76 crore to Rs 8,51,204.65 crore, while ITC saw a decline of Rs 250.11 crore to Rs 6,27,337.65 crore. Yet, Hindustan Unilever increased by Rs 14,179.78 crore, bringing its market worth to Rs 6,66,919.73 crore.

The market capitalization of HDFC Bank increased by Rs 3,735.35 crore to reach Rs 12,47,941.78 crore. Reliance Industries retained its position as the top-valued company in India, with TCS, HDFC Bank, Airtel, ICICI Bank, Infosys, State Bank of India, Hindustan Unilever, LIC, and ITC following closely behind.
