Manipur Govt stresses more on its development; initiated ODOP, Export Hubs schemes

Highlighting the need to attract investors, Manipur Chief Minister, Shri N. Biren Singh stressed more bringing development, and developing infrastructure in the state.

Manipur Chief Minister Shri N. Biren Singh said the State government has initiated the One Product One Sub-division Scheme and a Prabhari has been appointed as in charge for every 68 sub-divisions. He elaborated that every sub-division will have its own product.

The Chief Minister also inaugurated a Stakeholders Consultations Meet under District as Export Hubs Scheme in Imphal. The meet was organized by the District Administration, Imphal East.

Speaking as the Chief Guest of the inaugural session, he said the State is sailing smoothly, he said, adding that if this progress continues, within the next five years, we can bring a change to the State.

The Chief Minister also highlighted the need to attract investors to bring development, and to develop infrastructure for that.

The State has received a proposal for conducting the Femina Miss India contest, he said, and further explained the need to create infrastructure to host such events.

Highlighting the government’s plans for developing infrastructure in the State, Shri N. Biren Singh deliberated on the under construction Olympic Park, setting up of a 5-star status hotel at the Old High Court site, and night landing facility at the Imphal Airport.

He said the state Manipur has a huge production capacity of turmeric, pineapple, and ginger, and said that the State had recently exported pineapple and 10 tonnes of turmeric powder to Europe.

The Chief Minister further stressed on the workings of Women Self-Help Groups in the State and added that banks have witnessed an improvement in bank loan repayment over the past few years and that the rural economy in the State has also improved.

Textiles, Commerce and Industry Minister Smt. Nemcha Kipgen said that the scheme is aimed at targeting export promotion, manufacturing and employment generation at the grassroot level and making India an export powerhouse, thereby contributing to the Atmanirbhar Bharat mission and to implement the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi of Made in India and being vocal for local.

She added that the products identified for Imphal East district, Chakhao or black rice, pineapple and diversified handloom and handicraft are the most potential products not only for Imphal East but for the whole of Manipur.
