Online travel platform MakeMyTrip has reported a steep decline in travel demand to Turkey and Azerbaijan, as public sentiment across India shifts following recent geopolitical developments. The company revealed that bookings to the two countries have plummeted by 60%, while cancellations have surged by 250% over the past week.
The travel downturn comes amid widespread calls on social media to boycott travel to Turkey and Azerbaijan in the wake of Operation Sindoor, after both nations were perceived as expressing support for Pakistan.
"In the past week, Indian travellers have voiced strong sentiments, with a significant dip in bookings and a sharp rise in cancellations for Turkey and Azerbaijan," a MakeMyTrip spokesperson said, speaking to ANI.

Standing in alignment with public sentiment, the company announced that it has suspended all travel promotions and offers related to the two destinations.
"In solidarity with our nation and as a mark of respect for our armed forces, we support this sentiment and advise against all non-essential travel to Turkey and Azerbaijan," the spokesperson added.
The boycott trend has gained traction across digital platforms, with several users calling for reconsideration of travel plans to countries seen as unsupportive of India's national interests. MakeMyTrip’s move to halt promotions marks one of the first major corporate responses to the campaign.
