The much-anticipated Livestock and Poultry Show 2025 commenced today at the Khanapara Farm Gate Field. Minister of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Krishnendu Paul inaugurated the event, which concludes on January 12. Other dignitaries, including Guwahati MP Bijuli Kalita Medhi and Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Chairman Manoj Saikia, also attended the event.
Entrepreneurs, farm owners, and companies from across the country participated in the Livestock And Poultry Show which features a diverse range of exhibits, including dogs, calves, ducks, cocks, eggs, fisheries, seeds, handloom products and many other innovative displays from the industry.
“Almost 150 stalls from various regions are participating. Assam is witnessing significant growth in the animal husbandry and veterinary sector. Under the new CM Flexi Program, 419 beneficiaries will receive Rs 7.19 crores for egg production. Additionally, the milk production sector is expanding rapidly, creating a substantial market. Around 24,000 youths have been linked to banks for direct loans through the Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department,” Minister Krishnendu Paul stated during a press interaction.
“Farmers from diverse backgrounds have come together on one platform to showcase Assam’s strength in livestock and poultry. This is a great opportunity for the younger generation to benefit from government schemes. The Assam government is also working on plans to boost daily milk production by 10 lakh litres, which will add to the current 29 lakh litres. This is a pivotal moment for the cattle and poultry industry,” Chairman Manoj Saikia told Business North East (BNE).
