Guwahati: Airport Taxi, a new service that connects Guwahati airport to nearby tourist locations, was launched on June 15. The service will operate from 6 am from Guwahati Airport and return at 2 pm from the Tezpur Airport.
The company, founded on an initial investment of Rs 2 lakh, is currently hiring cabs and is working on asset line mode. At present, they have 10-20 drivers, with the numbers expected to increase with spikes in demand.
The service is part of Rivttra LLP, recognized by Assam Start-Up and the Government of India. The company aims to promote tourism and increase accessibility to nearby tourist locations, particularly in Tezpur, located on the riverside of the Brahmaputra. Rivttra LLP also aims to utilize inland waterways for cargo and passenger transportation. The company is promoting tourism as part of river transportation and is aiming to increase tourist accessibility.
Currently, 5 people are associated with the project. The founder Biswajeet Saikia, who has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from NIT Jalandhar, told Business NorthEast that he initially started working in the logistics sector.
"Later, tourism also became part of our business model. From 2016-2017, I handled my firm Tezpur Logistics which will soon be launched in Bongaigaon, Nagaon, Biswanath Chariali. Rivttra is trying to utilize the inland waterways. Particularly, the Brahmaputra, as it is not used properly," he told this platform. "We are just willing to activate to utilize the cargo transportation and passenger transportation."
