New Delhi: The Israeli government has partnered with India's National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) to launch a major recruitment initiative aimed at bridging skill shortages in Israel’s infrastructure and healthcare sectors. The drive seeks to onboard 10,000 construction workers and 5,000 caregivers.
As per reports, the Population, Immigration, and Border Authority (PIBA) of Israel has specifically requested skilled professionals in four key construction disciplines: framework construction, iron bending, plastering, and ceramic tiling. A delegation from PIBA, including assessors, is scheduled to visit India next week to administer skill evaluations essential for selecting qualified candidates. Following this, the second phase of the recruitment drive for construction workers is set to commence in Maharashtra by the end of September.
This recruitment effort marks the second collaboration between Israel and NSDC, following last year’s successful initiative where over 16,800 candidates participated in skill assessments between December 2023 and March 2024. From this pool, 10,349 individuals were chosen, with approximately 5,000 having already relocated to Israel.
Selected workers will receive a monthly salary of Rs 1.92 lakh, supplemented by a bonus of Rs16,515. Additionally, their compensation package includes medical insurance, as well as provisions for food and accommodation. All participants recruited through the government-to-government (G2G) channel are required to complete pre-departure orientation training. This training provides essential information about Israeli culture and lifestyle, ensuring a smooth transition for the workers into their new environment.
NSDC emphasised that this international workforce mobility initiative supports the Indian government's ambition to position India as the "Skill Capital of the World," enhancing the global recognition of Indian vocational expertise.
