Indian army conducts joint flood relief operation in Guwahati

New Delhi: The Indian army conducted exercise 'Jal Rahat', a joint flood relief exercise in Guwahati, India, in collaboration with ASDMA, NDRF, SDRF, SSB, and Assam Police at IIT Guwahati to raise awareness about flood relief operations and establish synergy among stakeholders. 

It highlighted the potential of civil military cooperation and demonstrated the commitment and capability of all stakeholders in conducting relief operations. "The exercise focused on meticulously planned drills, including rescue operations, on-the-spot medical assistance, and preparation of improvised flood relief expedients," the army said in a release.

During the drill, a specialist team from the army demonstrated a rescue mission using a helicopter with winching capability, while teams from SDRF and NDRF showcased their skills in rescuing people in deep waters.

The army said, "The exercise instilled confidence among locals about the capabilities of flood relief columns and assured a timely and effective response from the Indian Army and government agencies during crises."
