In a carefully calibrated military action following the deadly terror strike in Pahalgam that claimed 26 lives, including a Nepali national, India has launched Operation Sindoor, targeting nine terror-related facilities in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (Pok), the Ministry of Defence confirmed on Tuesday.
Described as both precise and measured, the operation focused solely on locations linked to the orchestration of cross-border terrorism. The Defence Ministry clarified that no Pakistani military installations were targeted, signalling India’s intent to avoid escalating tensions while sending a firm message to terror operatives.
“This operation serves as a direct response to the Pahalgam attack. It reflects India’s resolve while maintaining a non-provocative stance,” the official statement noted.

The government has stressed that the strikes were limited in scope and intended to act as a warning to the perpetrators behind the recent terror violence. A comprehensive briefing on the operation is expected to be shared later in the day.
Meanwhile, the Indian economy continues to show resilience amid geopolitical tensions. Key sectors, including manufacturing, services, and infrastructure, have maintained steady growth, and foreign investor confidence remains intact. Analysts suggest that India’s calibrated response is unlikely to deter its economic momentum, with the government focused on maintaining stability while addressing national security concerns.
