New Delhi: As per Hindustan Times, India is seeing steady growth in its international flight operations, with 33 out of over 100 airports now handling international traffic. Port Blair is set to enhance its connectivity this winter, as AirAsia launches a thrice-weekly service to Kuala Lumpur.

November will mark a significant increase in international departures

Recent data from Cirium, an aviation analytics firm, reveals that November will mark a significant increase in international departures from India. The upcoming month is expected to see 4,382 weekly international flights, reflecting a 12 percent rise compared to last year’s 3,913 weekly departures. The increase in available seats is similarly robust, with an 11 percent growth.

The data indicates a disparity in flight distribution, with major metro cities receiving more international flights, while smaller airports experience a higher growth rate. Nineteen airports have reported growth exceeding the average 12 percent, while 14 airports have seen less favorable performance. Notably, Goa Dabolim, Nagpur, and Gaya will offer fewer international flights this November compared to last year. However, the launch of services at Goa Manohar International Airport in Mopa ensures that the region maintains its overall connectivity.

Guwahati, Visakhapatnam (Vizag), and Surat are set to experience a remarkable increase in international flights this November, with frequencies more than doubling. Coimbatore, Chandigarh, and Jaipur will also see a 50 percent increase. This surge is largely attributed to previously low flight numbers and the addition of new services. For instance, Vizag and Guwahati, which had only four international flights per week last November, are ramping up to nine and ten flights per week, respectively, this November.
